Annual International Brain HSP Olympiad
12/31/2005

Initiated by Ilchi Lee in April 2005 in Seoul, South Korea, the International Brain HSP Olympiad (IHSPO) has celebrated the integrated functioning of the brain and its greater potential.

Since 2006, the Olympiad has been hosted by the . It moved to the United States in 2007. From the fourth Olympiad in 2008, the IHSPO has made the United Nations in New York City its home, and combined its activities with the celebration of International Youth Day. That year, over 500 people from ten countries participated, including 200 children. A special panel of youth speakers addressed the role that youth could play in internationalism and creating a culture of peace.

IHSPO events focus on the functioning of neural systems and faculties:

• Speed Brain tests the ability to recognize and remember visual cues (colors, letters, and symbols) in a fraction of a second.
• HSP Gym challenges participants to hold postures for extended periods, using motor systems and balance between the two brain hemispheres.
• Brain Window tests the ability to perceive colors without visual information.
• Body Sense Perception tests the ability to identify liquids (water, juice, or milk) without visual information.

Through its unique purpose and activities, the International Brain HSP Olympiad evokes an exceptional level of hope and enthusiasm among participants, observers, and speakers alike.
