05/27/2009

Front of the Ilchi Museum of Brain EducationA Celebration Concert, called “Music to Meet Your Brain,” will be held for the Grand Opening of the Ilchi Museum of Brain Education, at the Sedona Mago Retreat Center, Saturday, June 6, 2009, 4:00-5:30 p.m.

The event features the Ribbon-cutting Ceremony for the Ilchi Museum, a one-hour outdoor concert, a tour of the Museum, and a vegetarian buffet dinner in the Dining Hall. Walking tours of Mago Retreat’s exquisite Healing Garden and Lake are available before and after the ceremony and concert. The ceremony and concert will be held under a tent at the natural Heaven Rock amphitheatre, a short walk from the Ilchi Museum.

The Concert and other activities are free; except for the dinner, which at $10 a person is a special price.

Visitors may stay for the June 6-7 weekend “Full Moon Retreat” program, which includes an overnight stay, three meals, full-moon meditation, yoga class, and Tao philosophy explanation. The package price is $259 a person, single occupancy.

The intimate, multimedia Ilchi Museum dramatically tells the story of how Brain Education and Brain Wave Vibration are changing the way people worldwide are utilizing their brains to achieve greater health, happiness, peace, and success. It contains several brain-theme rooms that bring to life ancient wisdom, messages from Mago (Mother Earth), sounds to improve brain function, a Brain Wave Vibration meditation zone, and a gift shop.

The green-adobe, one-story, 4,000-square-foot Museum’s name honors Ilchi Lee, Sedona-resident and pioneering brain philosopher and educator. It recognizes his three decades of development of Brain Education, a system of more than 360 body-mind methods for attaining well-being for individuals and humanity.

In 1998, Lee founded the Sedona Mago Retreat Center, the beautiful 160-acre training and healing center with a field of 12 small vortexes in the heart of the Coconino National Forest. Mago Retreat was deemed a fitting site for the world’s first museum of Brain Education.

The Celebration Concert, “Music to Meet Your Brain,” marks the Ilchi Museum’s Grand Opening. The Concert will harmonize the spirit of the land upon which the Ilchi Museum stands, the Ilchi Museum building’s success, and the overall well-being of humanity and the Earth.

The Concert begins with a seven-person group of drummers, playing Samulnori (four types of ancient drums), in a traditional way and chanting (called Jishin, asking the Earth’s spirit to bestow good fortune on new buildings). The next performance is a six-person group of Korean-style power drummers playing Modumbuk (large drums on stands).

Ralf Illenberger--guitaristThe Concert features two international guest musicians. Guitarist Ralf Illenberger’s style is a harmonious blend of pop, jazz, and meditative rhythms. Barbie Edwards plays two lap harps simultaneously, with an evocative and healing vibrational sound, and sings with an angel-like voice. The Concert will highlight the musical talents of Arang Park, Sedona-resident and acclaimed composer/performer, and other accomplished musicians in the Sedona area.

The audience will experience Brain Wave Vibration, a simple but powerful way to release stress and improve body-mind health, with special music. This method is based on Lee’s book by the same name, which won a 2009 Living Now Book Award and Arizona Book Award (or Glyph Award).

Available at the event will be two special opportunities. Participants can received a Brain Balancing Check-up, to get feedback on their total body-brain health, for a reduced price of $35 (usually $75). They can stay overnight on June 6, to enjoy the full beauty and healing energy of Mago Retreat, for a one-time special price of $95 for a double occupancy (usually $136), with a lavish breakfast buffet included.

The Concert and other activities are at the Sedona Mago Retreat Center, 3500 E. Bill Gray Road, Sedona. It is 10.8 miles out Bill Gray Road from Highway 89A, at mile marker 358.

A free shuttle service is available for up to 50 guests. Cars can be parked at the Sedona Mago Retreat Information House, located at the intersection of Highway 89A and Bill Gray Road. The shuttle leaves the Information House at 3:00 p.m. and departs Mago Retreat at 7:30 p.m.
