The launch of my latest book, The Call of Sedona: Journey of the Heart
On Saturday, August 15, 2009, I gave an interactive performance at the Brain Art Festival at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. At the festival I demonstrated how each of us can become a brain artist--a person who uses their brain’s vast creative power to make their life a work of art by living to achieve the transformation of their soul and hoping to leave a legacy that contributes to a positive and empowering world vision.
Ilchi Lee taught Brain Education to a small group of students on Jeju Island in South Korea in March 2008. He led them in several different types of meditation exercises.
The first meditation center Ilchi Lee founded is called Chunhwawon. It's located on a beautiful mountaintop in South Korea.
Moak Mountain is the place Ilchi Lee spent about two months in deep ascetic practice, which allowed him to find the answers to the questions, "Who am I? Why am I alive? What is my purpose?"
In August 2010, Ilchi Lee spent a day in the Cypress Forest Woodlands in Jangheung, South Korea. This healing forest was rich in phytoncides, which are antimicrobial substances emitted from trees. He also spent some time at nearby Songgwangsa Temple, one of the most famous Korean Buddhist temples.
In August 2010, Ilchi Lee made a trip to the wilds of Mongolia. Some people believe that the origin of Korea was an ancient kingdom that encompassed what is now Korea, Mongolia, and part of China. This kingdom was ruled by a dynasty called Dahngun Chosun, who established a core philosophy of Hong Ik, or to “widely benefit” for the greater good of all.
In 2008, Ilchi Lee toured the United States, South Korea, and Japan sharing his Brain Education techniques for successful aging. The lectures were based on the book he co-authored with Jesse Jones, PhD called In Full Bloom: A Brain Education Guide for Successful Aging. Some of the lectures included Dr. Jones's upbeat insight into successful aging based on her years of expereinces at the Center for Successful Aging at the University of California, Fullerton.
Here is one of Ilchi Lee's rooms where he finds much inspiration.
Ilchi Lee visited a school in Bronx, New York, USA that had successfully incorporated Brain Education into their program.
On September 30, 2009, I officiated a renewal of marriage vows in the Healing Garden at Sedona Mago Retreat in Sedona, Arizona. At this ceremony, attended by friends and participants in the Brain Artist Workshop, the couple solidified their commitment to growing spiritually through each other and helping each other's growth and completion. They also declared their commitment to teaching their family how to live a spiritual life.
On November 12, 2011, over 700 people from Sedona and around the U.S. filled the Performing Arts Center at the Sedona Red Rock High School for Celebrate the Sedona Spirit, a rhythmic event hosted by the Sedona Meditation Center. At this event, I gave an experiential lecture on breathing and meditation, and shared my vision for Sedona as the center of a new spiritual civilization.
My first lecture as part of the Power of Meditation tour was in Chicago. The audience there was very enthusiastic and I enjoyed sharing simple breathing and meditation techniques with them.
I love to capture images and phrases with my calligraphy brush while in a meditative state. In such a state, creativity flows naturally. During a calligraphy exhibition at Sedona Mago Retreat, I showed visitors from South Korea my work.
I was impressed by the audience at the Power of Meditation event in Los Angeles. They were open and enthusiastic and I felt like we connected with each other.
On December 10, 2011, I gave an outdoor lecture to a meditation tour group from Japan staying at Sedona Mago Retreat. We walked to the lake in the Healing Garden at the retreat center. I spoke to them about the nature of choice.
Ilchi Lee signed copies of The Call of Sedona for approximately 150 people at the Well Read bookstore on Saturday, January 14, 2012
Ilchi Lee gave a talk and signed copies of The Call of Sedona at a Barnes & Noble at Palisades Center in West Nyack, New York.
I felt an intimate connection with the sixty people who came to this book signing. It was great to be at a bookstore in the heart of the U.S. capital.
