Regular participants of the Adult Community Center of Sedona happily received Ilchi Lee’s gift of 100 copies of his coauthored book “In Full Bloom – A Brain Education Guide for Successful Aging,” March 28, 2008.
This was the start of the implementation of Mr. Lee’s pledge to donate 300 copies of the book to senior citizens in the Verde Valley, announced at his lecture at the Sedona Public Library, February 15, 2008. As he stated, “Sedona is a wonderful place to grow old, as long as you are healthy, happy and peaceful. To widen this option for more seniors in this area, I contribute these copies of my book to take care of the brain as it ages.”
Participants in the open house watch a Successful Aging exercise demonstration. The copies of the book were distributed with smiles and hugs by Yewon Hwang, head instructor of the BR Clinic & Dahn Yoga Center, Uptown Sedona.
The “In Full Bloom” book has inspired five Successful Aging related workshops to be offered, free or at low cost, in venues throughout Sedona and the Verde Valley.
At the Adult Community Center, the ongoing course called "Exercises for Successful Aging," for the healthier aging of body and mind, is taught by Linda Cooper. Many of the course’s exercises are found in or adapted from “In Full Bloom.”
Ms. Cooper’s course is offered every Monday, 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The cost is $5 per class. She has been trained and accredited in the Dahn Yoga and Brain Education programs, and is a Sedona-based Dahn Yoga instructor.
Ms. Cooper led a demonstration of some of the body-brain exercises at the Adult Community Center’s March 28 open house, highlighting the range of classes offered for the health and well-being of Sedona seniors.
