Ilchi Lee

A listener-supported radio station KPFA FM in Berkeley, California, interviewed Sung Won Lee, MD for 20 minutes about the benefits and goals of Brain Education and Brain Wave Vibration last Friday, September 26, 2008. In a show called "Living Room", host Kris Welch expressed how impressed she was with what she learned about the Brain Education system created by Ilchi Lee (no relation to Dr. Lee).

She had seen Dr. Lee, the Secretary of the International Brain Education Association (IBREA) and the Director of Research at the Ilchi Center for Applied Neuroscience, on an ABC television program on health, and was intrigued with what he had to say.

Welch was also impressed by the IBREA website and Ilchi.com because she noticed how the content and Ilchi Lee integrated the practical and the spiritual. On one hand they explain about the brain and provide very concrete techniques, while on the other they introduce the concept of Earth Humans—people who consider the earth as their primary identity rather than any nationality, race, or religion, and who want health and peace for themselves, humanity, and the earth. Dr. Lee explained this apparent dichotomy by saying that the brain is a "pivot point from which we can all improve our lives and can seek a common cooperative future."

When asked, Dr. Lee also explained that Brain Education is about using your brain well, recognizing that the brain is “the source or our experiences, our activities, our cognition, our mood, our creativity.” He said that the goal of IBREA is to provide principles and practices, and give good information about how to use the brain well. Brain Wave Vibration is a very simple, effective tool for doing this, which anyone can use.

Brain Education was billed on the radio station's website as "a program of simple physical exercises that can increase your brain's fitness, reduce stress and anxiety, and increase confidence. The program's ultimate goal is nothing less than world peace."

Fitting with that goal, Welch noted that Dr. Lee is to give a presentation on Brain Education at the United Nations on Monday, September 29, 2008. She also noted that Oscar Arias Sanchez, Nobel Peace Prize laureate and president of Costa Rica, supports Ilchi Lee's ideas.

She pointed out that Brain Education is new to the United States, but has a larger following internationally. Listeners could try it out at a Dahn Yoga center, www.dahnyoga.com.

As part of their fund-raising drive, the radio station sold Brain Wave Vibration and In Full Bloom books and played samples of songs from the Music for Brain Wave Vibration CD. The host described the books as easy, encouraging, and mind-opening with clear diagrams. She had tried some of the exercises from the books and could recommend them as effective.
