Dahn Yoga Centers of Chicago led warm-up exercises for participants at the Verizon Wireless/Chicago Bulls 2008 Charity Golf Event on August 24, 2008. These exercises, based on self-empowerment martial arts practices, are useful in preparing the body, brain and mind to play better golf. The instructor was Jason Vancea.
In Chicago, local representatives for Dahn Foundation wrote to event organizers, “We are pleased to be continuing to act from these founding principles of training and service as a part of the event […] benefiting the Charitabulls and Prevent Child Abuse America. We hope you enjoy the martial arts-based (DahnMuDo) warm-up exercises during Registration in the morning, as well as receiving a copy of the recently published book, Brave Wave Vibration by Ilchi Lee, as donated by Dahn Foundation for this charitable event.”

Dahn Yoga is a holistic healing and training system. Dahn is the Korean word for Energy, and the exercises are founded in the study of Ki-Energy and how to use it to support health by restoring mind/body communication. The Dahn training methods date back more than 5,000 years in Korean history. These exercises are now taught in more than 600 centers worldwide, with approximately 120 of these centers operating in the United States, and 13 in the Chicago area. The yoga classes include stretching, breathing, meditation, martial arts, and energy training. There are also special programs, workshops, retreats, and other advanced training opportunities available.
This approach to yoga is part of Brain Education, which is organized according to the Brain Education System Training (BEST) program, with its 5 Steps of training for improving health and well-being, for adults and children. The advancement of this educational innovation has been a driving focus of founder Ilchi Lee, who is an internationally recognized author of more than 30 books about the brain, health, and peace. Mr. Lee’s work as a peacemaker and educator is renowned in his native South Korea and around the world. Mr. Lee’s visited the United Nations in August 2000 to deliver the Prayer for Peace at the opening ceremony of the World Peace Summit of Religious and Spiritual leaders.
In June 2008, with the Korea Institute of Brain Science designated as an NGO with consultative status, Mr. Lee returned to the United Nations as a keynote speaker at the 4th International Brain Education Conference. His lecture addressed Brain Education as a way to create a global culture for learning, health and peace. Mr. Lee has just completed a national book tour for his recently published book, “In Full Bloom: A Brain Education Guide to Successful Aging.”
Dahn Yoga has founded the Dahn Foundation, a 501(c) nonprofit organization. Dahn Foundation was set up to celebrate the roots of Dahn Yoga by offering training programs and support services to various groups (children, young adults, families, elderly, physically challenged) in order to enhance health, happiness and peace. Dahn Foundation is currently supporting 90 volunteer projects in the U.S.
