Local residents and tourists who want to experience the healing and peaceful energy of “Sedona’s Secret Vortex” for a few hours can now take a complimentary guided tour of Sedona Mago Retreat Center. The tour includes a free shuttle bus service going between Uptown Sedona and the 160-acre Center in the heart of the Coconino National Forest. Bird's-eye view of Mago Retreat Center Six days a week (except Wednesday) a comfortable 12-seat bus makes this round-trip once a day so that more people can enjoy Mago Retreat Center’s unique natural setting, and sample the health-enhancing programs of a retreat center dedicated to love of humanity and love of the Earth. (“Mago” is the Korean word for Mother Earth.) At Mago Retreat Center, guests can immerse themselves in the beauty and serenity of this high-desert valley, surrounded by a variety of mountains. With guidance, they can feel the subtle energy of this hidden vortex. With its red rocks, abundant green trees, wide-open blue sky, colorful healing garden and lake, organic farm, stable of horses, landscape-blended buildings, and smiling staff, this is truly a place to connect with Nature and one’s self – for reflection, healing and renewal. ![]() Longevity Walking around Healing Garden For a decade, Mago Retreat Center has provided residential healing and retreat programs – all based in the Brain Education system – to 3,000 participants annually from around the world. The Center is operated by a nonprofit organization, founded in 1998 by leading international brain philosopher and educator Ilchi Lee (www.ilchi.com). His first passion in Sedona was to guide harmony-seeking visitors on tours – walking and really seeing the land, meditating deeply, and learning the Brain Education exercises that he has innovated. The entire tour lasts five hours. The shuttle bus scenic ride is an hour each way. A seasoned tour guide rides the bus, sharing observations about the geology of the area, Sedona’s vortexes and their effect on us, and the special attributes of Mago Retreat Center. The three hours at the Center involve a walking tour through part of the vortex-energy-filled land, instruction in Longevity Walking (a health-maintaining method), and invigorating body-mind exercises (stretching, breathing and relaxing). Sedona Mago Retreat Information Center Guests may bring their own lunch (meat and alcohol not permitted), or enjoy an all-you-can-eat vegetarian lunch for $10 a person (children under five are free). During the tour, optional programs can be arranged: Horseback Meditation, 1 hour/$100; Chakra Healing, 30 minutes/$90, 1 hour/$180, and with Body Alignment Check-up, 80 minutes/$250; and Successful Aging Training, 1 hour/$150. Following an orientation at 9:15 am, the shuttle bus departs Sedona Story/Mago Café, 207 North Highway 89A, Uptown Sedona, at 9:30 am. The bus may stop at Mago Retreat Information Center, Bill Gray Road and Highway 89A, at 9:30 am, before reaching Mago Retreat Center, 10:00 am.
