As the founder of Dahn Yoga, Ilchi Lee has many students who practice his methods. One of them, Stephanie Jasieniecki, was recently interviewed for an article in the Madison Chatham that was printed in the My Sport section on September 10, 2008. After practicing the methods for some time, Stephanie now manages a Dahn Yoga Center in Madison, NJ.
The article featured Dahn Yoga and Brain Education as Stephanie’s "sport", although the benefits of these methods were explained beyond merely the physical realm. According to Stephanie, "I am like many practitioners who experience increased flexibility, a more hopeful outlook and emotional well-being after just one or a few sessions; many experience immediate health benefits and even reversal of some medical health symptoms with regular practice."
She further explained that the major benefits for a healthier body tend to include, "more physical power, improved strength, weight loss, pain relief, better sleep and stimulated immune system." For a more positive mind, she mentioned "emotional serenity, stress release, more centered and balanced, depression reversal, and improved concentration." For a more peaceful spirit, the benefits are "more spiritual energy, increased self awareness and acceptance, more inner joy, enhanced personal relationships, and greater inner peace."
Stephanie also distinguished Dahn Yoga from other forms of yoga by saying, "Dahn Yoga, also known as Brain Education, is the only method accessible to anyone of any age or fitness level that significantly helps improve brain function, overall energy, [and] health and wellness. It is not just yoga, but a comprehensive system that leads people to perfect health in body and mind."
Finally, when asked, "What is the best advice you've ever been given and who gave it to you?" Stephanie cited one of Ilchi Lee's philosophical principles about the brain. He often describes the brain as an operating system, or Brain Operating System (BOS). He gives three rules for a healthy BOS:
- Whatever you choose, it will happen.
- Good news makes a good brain.
- Pay attention (to yourself, to your goals, to your environment)!
According to Ilchi Lee, following these rules will help you achieve any goal.
Stephanie agreed, explaining, "I love these principles of the brain. When I keep my BOS in good operating condition -- with passion, focus, and positive information -- my life is healthy, happy, and peaceful."
