21-Day Miracle Letter

Total Silence

There is great truth in solitude-- in being alone, with oneself, and at peace. It is not lonely. Loneliness is experienced when we shut ourselves in small rooms, complain about the world, feel full of personal desires, and have no sense of escape.

Being alone can be magnificent; it is empowering; it gathers passion in the hearts of those who have great will and determination. Through complete solitude, we can feel wholeness, and find the truth in everything.

Being alone can be scarey. I don't think I have been alone more than a day or two my whole life. Your words make it sound very empowering. Thank you for your insight. I have often been in thought about the alone you would feel as family grows and leaves your nearness. smilies/smiley.gif

Ilchi Lee's description of total silence and the restorative nature of being with one's self is the most accurate and perceptive that I have ever heard. It perfectly describes how I feel when alone, and why it is so powerful and necessary for me to have this alone time. Others have said that they see my "introverted" nature as reclusive, but to me, when I am alone, I have my greatest outreaching to others (spiritually), and my greatest periods of growth.
