Prayers of Peace

In late December 2010, ilchi.com rolled out an initiative to gather 2,011 people to pledge to read the Prayer of Peace on 1-1-11 as an expression of their intent to create peace in the new year.
Two short weeks later, with the goal surpassed and the prayer posted in 16 different languages, 2,125 people read it on New Years Day from all around the world.
We, the staff at ilchi.com, were overwhelmed by the positive response to this event and are truly grateful to everyone who participated. Extra thanks to those of you who sent in your videos and pictures and left comments about your experience (you can read or leave a comment below!)
We compiled a short video with what you sent to share the great positive energy of 1-1-11:
A special New Year’s message from Ilchi Lee:
I wish you many blessings and good fortune in the New Year!
Thank you to everyone who gathered their love for humanity
and desire for peace on the earth,
and read the Prayer of Peace on the first day of the New Year.
Our brain has the power to achieve what it chooses.
All you have to do is start by choosing a dream and a vision.
When you have a dream, and you focus on that dream and keep taking action,
suddenly that dream will have become a reality.
If each of us chooses health, happiness, and peace and takes action,
the earth will become more beautiful a star than ever.
The work of healing the pain and hurt
and resolving the conflict and struggle on this earth
begins with each of us.
I hope this becomes a year in which all of your dreams are fulfilled.
I hope for this world to be brimming with peace and freedom.
Thank you.
Thank you again for your participation in PoP. We hope you enjoy taking a PDCA journey with us the rest of the month. And, without spoiling the surprise, we’ll let you know that there will be a major event in February involving the Chun Bu Kyung, calligraphy, and even prizes, so keep coming back and visiting us here at ilchi.com.
Happy New Year, and may all our dreams for peace be realized in 2011.
With love,
The Staff at ilchi.com

Enjoyed the overall message on the Prayer of Peace, very altruistic, profound, and idealistic, but I personally would prefer to avoid negation statements in a PEACE prayer due to inevitably inference and invitation of negative thoughts.

This morning, just after the magnificent sunrise, a spectacular view of Mt. Rainier, a clear sky, and bright sunshine, I invited my partner, Jim, to join the group of us reading the Prayer of Peace. That prayer always touches me deeply with so much iinclusiveness. When I went on the Korean Chunhwa Tour, I learned the secret of Divinity: Oneness. I thought the secret would be a big deal, and it wasn’t. We are all one, all connected. We share the sameness of Divinity, although expressed in a myriad of ways. This prayer, washes away the differences between men and women, country and other countries, governments, religions. I literally feel it.

I experienced a power and peacefulness in reading the prayer. Religion truly has been a source of great suffering in the world, when used by the ego mind. It is good to remember the truth of our oneness. Thank You

I would like to share my experience with the POP invitation.
On December twentieth I answered the call to join the 2011 people interested in reading the Prayer of Peace on the 1st of january.
Life went on and we visited some family during Christmas time and we came back on the 30th of December and decided that we would celebrate New Years Eve quitely at home with my wife and three children.
I gave a copy of the prayer to my two sons asking them to read it during the day and I felt a litle bit sad about not being with a lot of people on the 1st to share the prayer.
On the morning of the first I did 1000 bow exercises at 5 pm and I knew I wasn’t alone that morning and I really had a wonderful experience with the bowing and getting a clear answer to my question who m’ I wich was
”higher vibration”
That inspired me to send the prayer to the community radio station here in Gaspesie, Quebec, and ask the speaker to read it for the whole population.
Although I new that it was short notice and that the programme manager was on vacation and the prayer should be approved before going on air, I thought let just do it and see…
So I rote a letter explaining the situation and copied the french version of the prayer and gave a call to the radio station and they said that it would be difficult because the decision maker was not there on the weekend and I thought well let just do it…
So on the afternoon of the first of January when I was ready to go out and drop the letter at the station I received a call from a friend who happens to be the station’s programme manager. He and his wife where back from vacation and were surprised to see that we where also back from vacation and we agreed to have a celabration dinner for the New Year’s Eve.
As he read the prayer and heard my story he decided to read the prayer on the fourth of January as he would himself be getting back to work.
So I will be sending you the info on when exactly the prayer will go on air in the Gaspésie region at the far east side of Quebec province. You can listen online to the french version of the prayer. I will have time to tell all my friends in the area when to listen in and join the movement to the world change of paradigm that is happening right now !

At Ahndong Dahn Yoga Center in South Korea, the staff gathered on the night of Dec 31st and had a year-farewell-party. When we saw clock chime 12am, we read the Prayer of Peace together.
There were 10 of us, and we read the Prayer of Peace with one mind. We felt like our prayer was spreading to the universe. We felt full of love and peace in our hearts. We could imagine that people in the world are dancing with joy and peace.
Thank you so much for providing this amazing opportunity.

On December 30th at the Arlington Dahn Yoga Center in Boston we celebrated our last class of 2010 with a potluck from our members. We all read the Prayer of Peace and ate delicious food. Everyone shared their feelings of hope and gratitude.
On Sunday Jan 2nd our staff and partners completed 103 gratitude bows; then we took turns reading the Prayer of Peace. Afterward we had shared our vision and hope for the New Year!

On 1/1/2011 my husband surprised me by agreeing to read the prayer of peace aloud with me. He does not participate in Dahn yoga and although he finds my commitment to it rather bizarre he supports me in my practice because he knows that it is important to me.
After reading the prayer I thanked him for his participation and he said that the prayer touched him deeply and that he was very thankful to have had the opportunity to read it with me.
At that moment we were at peace with ourselves and with one another without needing to judge or change each other in anyway. Sharing this prayer together allowed us to better understand ourselves and each other so I thank you Ilchi Lee for giving us this opportunity.

Happy 2011 From Dahn Yoga Center in Glendale AZ!
Ten members stayed after our usual 10:00 AM class to celebrate by reading the beautiful poem. We spelled out EARTH with votive candles, lit them, then read the poem in unison, then blew them out together. It felt like a special birthday cake!
Thank you, Ilchi Lee, for sharing your meaningful and touching message!

I had the opportunity to take myself and 5 of my members from Body + Brain Holistic Yoga in Cypress Texas to the Sedona Mago Garden Retreat center for the New Year’s Eve Chun Je and celebration. Experiencing deep gratitude for the Earth and our blessings of 2010 through overnight prayer and into the early hours of 2011, we arose that morning to bright sunshine and crisp air, the dawn of a new year, the dawn of HOPE. We climbed to Bell Rock and together with members from Albuquerque read the Prayer for Peace. As we read it for each other I found that I connected with the deeper meanings of the prayer, that we are one, we are not on our journeys alone, nor are we to walk our paths in isolation from one another. The memories of this past weekend will never be forgotten and I am so grateful that my path has brought me to this place.

On January 1st, my siblings, their spouses and my nieces and nephew gathered around in my sister’s kitchen in Castle Rock, Colorado as I read the Prayer of Peace. All were very moved by the Prayer and its meaning for all of us as people of the Earth and for the Earth for a lasting peace on Earth.

On the morning of 1/1/11, after a long night of dancing in the new year with many beloved friends, I returned to my hotel room and got ready for bed. After showering, the sun was just rising through the curtains of my room, and I was caught, breathless, at the beauty of the new day, in this new year. It was then that I remembered my committment to read the Prayer for Peace. I brought up the Prayer on my laptop, and, as the sun streamed through the trees, through the window, and onto my sleeping roommate and myself, I read the Prayer aloud to the world. The warmth of the sun and the warmth of my heart were one, and I could feel love for and *from* the whole world in that moment. I repeated the Prayer, just to keep the feeling going, and then retired to my bed, with a new hope in my soul.

I love the Prayer of Peace. I always felt before I read this there was one “God” for everyone; not separate Gods.
I read the Prayer on New Year’s Day and so did my mom. She thought it was a beautiful, moving prayer. We felt hopeful for the new year and wants peace for the earth!
Thank You!

MY MESSAGE FOR PEACE AND HARMONY
Dear Brothers & Sisters,
We all need to pray for one another, and to love one
another. We should always pray for the safety, peace,
love and brotherhood for people all over the world.
Too bad we can’t have an independence day for the
entire world. A day of freedom from ignorance, hatred,
war, illusions, power and control. A day where we can
all love each other as human beings and toss away the
weapons of war, and cast out our fears and hatreds
from our hearts into the graves. We must mourn the
graves of the innocents all over the world, and give
the children of the world the hope of a peaceful,
loving and beautiful world.
A world full of love and without hatred or fear. A
world where we can join hands together and accept one
another, regardless of our skin color, ethnic
divisions, religion or nationality. If we don’t unite
as a human race, then we have condemned the future
generation of children a dark and very grim future.
Think of love, compassion and peace always…
MY PRAYER FOR PEACE AND HARMONY
Merciful God, You made all of the people of the world
in Your own image and placed before us the pathway of
salvation through different Preachers who claimed to
have been Your Saints and Prophets. But, the
contradictions (made by us) in the interpretation of
Your teachings have resulted in creating divisions,
faith based hatreds and bloodshed in the world
community. Millions of innocent men, women and
children have so far been brutally killed by the
militants of several religions who have been
committing horrifying crimes against humanity and
millions more would not be butchered by them in the
future, if You guide and help us find ways to reunite
peacefully.
IN THE NAME OF GOD, THE COMPASSIONATE, THE MERCIFUL,
look with compassion on the whole human family; take
away the controversial teachings of arrogance,
divisions and hatreds which have badly infected our
hearts; break down the walls that separate us; reunite
us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and
confusion to accomplish Your purposes on earth; that,
in Your good time, all nations and races could jointly
serve You in justice, peace and harmony. (Amen)

Hi I wanted to read the Prayer of Peace in Spanish, but when I clicked on it the translation is Portuguese. I tried many times just in case but Spanish translation in place.
