One More Time

Have you ever had to spend several times the time and energy on something because you didn’t give it your attention one more time and double-checked it? Has your heart ever ached when you grew distant from someone because, instead of reaching out to that person, you hesitated? Have you ever regretted it for a long time after you didn’t try a little harder to understand or be considerate toward someone?

Why do we hold back from giving the effort it takes to make that one step—to get closer to someone, to pay attention and check one more time, to look a little more carefully and to try to understand, just one more time? That extra effort really makes a world of difference.

When you think you’ve reached the end of the road, take one more step. When you feel like you’ve done as much as you can, try one more time. That one extra step will create a new path, and the effort you give to try one more time will bring out your best.
